At The Barracks Hotel Sentosa, echoes of a colonial military past are preserved in quiet luxury—and this bespoke kids’ activity book was designed to help young guests connect with that history in a playful and meaningful way. Once a British artillery barracks, the property's heritage is woven into its architecture, ambiance and story.
Our publication was carefully adapted and localised to reflect this rich legacy, while also spotlighting the hotel’s modern amenities and tranquil location on Sentosa Island. Through interactive activities, creative prompts and a fun historical narrative, children are invited to step into the role of young adventurers, uncovering stories from Singapore’s colonial era and gaining a deeper appreciation of the island’s past and present.

Unique Hotel Property Stories We Created
Here are examples of how we applied our key storytelling building blocks in the publication to highlight the unique identity of this property:
Uncover the History and Origins of the Property
To bring The Barracks Hotel’s colonial heritage to life for young guests, we reimagined its history through the eyes of William, the hotel's charming mascot inspired by the spirit of adventure and learning.

William, the playful mascot, serves as the children's guide throughout the activity book and is prominently featured in every creative activity. From beginning to end, he brings the hotel’s story to life with a sense of fun and curiosity.

The activity book gently introduces children to different aspects of colonial military life through imaginative, age-appropriate storytelling and activities. As they follow William’s adventures, kids learn about how the hotel once served as living quarters, a place for training and even where soldiers dined and relaxed between duties.
Each section of the book reflects these themes—inviting children to imagine what life might have been like in the mess hall, during drills or while resting in the barracks' serene surroundings. By weaving these historical elements into puzzles, drawing prompts and games, the book transforms The Barracks Hotel’s unique past into an engaging journey of discovery.

Explore the Environment and Surroundings (and History)
Outside the hotel, the activity book showcases the rich history of Sentosa Island. Through engaging facts, illustrations and creative challenges, children can explore the island's transformation from a quiet fishing village teeming with wildlife—like the Oriental Pied Hornbill and Malayan Water Monitor— into a vibrant tourist destination.

The activities highlight significant moments in Sentosa's evolution, including the introduction of the cable car system in the 1970s and the exciting attractions that define the island today. This playful journey through time allows young guests to connect with the island's natural and cultural heritage in a meaningful way.
