At Mandarin Oriental, Singapore, we brought the hotel’s beloved mascot, Raja the Lion, to life through a bespoke kids’ story and activity book. The tale was specially written to capture Raja’s adventurous spirit and was carefully adapted to highlight the hotel’s unique features, from its family-friendly amenities to its iconic location by Marina Bay.
As children embark on this journey, they not only explore the world of Mandarin Oriental but also discover elements of Singapore’s rich culture, landmarks and traditions. This makes the book both an engaging travel companion and a creative introduction to the city.

Define the Guest Experience and Journey
In this bespoke kids’ activity book, Raja the Lion becomes a playful guide, leading children through a travel-inspired story filled with fun creative activities. Each page transforms the property into a realm of imaginative adventure, encouraging young guests to explore Mandarin Oriental, Singapore in a way that’s both entertaining and enriching.
We designed playful activities where kids reimagine spaces within the hotel, turning everyday corners and details into moments of pure imaginative magic. What might seem ordinary at first — a floor motif, a wall decor piece or an elevator lobby — becomes an invitation for discovery, creativity and wonder through Raja’s adventurous eyes.
The book includes interactive scavenger hunt activities that encourage kids to explore the hotel in fun and engaging ways. From finding an array of sweet treats at the hotel's cake shop to observing the different staff uniforms, each activity turns everyday details into exciting discoveries.
The artwork also brings the property to life by featuring its most memorable spaces — from the elegant lobby and the hotel’s iconic elevators to the pool overlooking Singapore’s striking skyline. Paired with the story and activities, the illustrations invite young guests to step inside Raja’s world — turning the hotel into a living adventure they can explore for themselves.

Savour Culinary Offerings and Embrace Local Culture
To enhance the local flavour of the story, we wove Singapore's rich culinary traditions into Raja's journey. We highlighted iconic dishes such as Chilli Crab, Hainanese Chicken Rice, Nasi Lemak, and Katong Laksa. These pages provide young readers with a playful introduction to the city's vibrant food culture and allowing them to connect more deeply with the hotel's unique sense of place.
Explore the Environment and Surroundings
Raja’s adventure doesn’t stop at the hotel doors - it continues around the Marina Bay area and the Singapore River. Children are invited to join him on a lively quest to discover iconic landmarks, embrace the stunning sights and turn the city’s vibrant waterfront into their own playground of exploration and wonder.
Through a mix of creative and engaging activities, the story highlights nearby family-friendly attractions like the Esplanade, Singapore River Cruise, Merlion Park, Gardens by the Bay and the ArtScience Museum.
These moments are designed not just to entertain, but to encourage young readers and their parents to discover these iconic places together — turning the adventure on every page into lasting family memories.
